Landscapes and Seascapes - Oil & Water Mixable Oil Paint

A course for beginners to advanced, with individual guidance.

This week will focus on impressionistic landscapes. We will explore the subtleties of colour relationships and creating a mood with "colour accords", with warms and cools playing a vital relationship of the overall impression being created. Learning to mix specific colours and having colour control on the palette will be explained.

Step-by-step instruction is given on a variety of subjects including how to draw trees and mix various greens, as well as dealing with foregrounds.

Be prepared with your visual diary, for a fair amount of information, with your personal style being taken into consideration at all time.

The medium being used will be the new Artisan water based oil paint which does not require any toxic mediums. These paints behave in the same way as traditional oils but don't have the problems associated with turpentine and other potentially harmful mediums.

Terry's tuition has been varied from the School of Art but more significantly from private tutors throughout his life. He was elected as a Fellow of the RSASA in 1981 and has been Director of the School of Art in Victor Harbor for over 15 years. The Dutch Den Haag School has had a direct influence on his work; which is very much "traditional impressionistic" in style. He has won many prizes and has had solo exhibitions. Twelve teaching articles have been published in the Australian Artist magazine, some of which can been seen on his website www.lewitzkaartstudios.com. See specifically Australian Artist January 2010 No. 307.
