Great Paintings in Gouache    

Learn how to handle the medium that was developed before the middle ages. Create vibrant and inspiring paintings inspired by nature surrounded by the peace and serenity of Kenilworth.

The course will include hints, tips, techniques and shortcuts to painting fabulous artworks using this most versatile of mediums. We will be working inside and outdoors. Lots of help from your internationally known tutor, step by step worksheets to take home, demonstrations and discussions….. ensuring lots of laughter and good fun as well as hard work.

This workshop is suitable for those who have never tried gouache, and those who would like to learn more about a medium they are already using.

Materials List:

Faber-Castell 9000 graphite pencils in F and HB.
Faber-Castell kneadable eraser (grey).
Faber- Castell vinyl eraser (white).
Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen 272 brushnib (mid grey).
A4 Sketch pad Canson 220 or 20 sheets of photocopy paper.
A4 pad Arches 300gsm Hot Pressed watercolour paper.
2 sheets Glassine cut to A4 (keep the off-cuts and bring along to lean on)
Brushes – round #2, #6, #12 (synthetic with good points).
Water holder (yoghurt container is fine).
Gouache tubes – either Daler Rowney or Winsor & Newton
White, prussian blue, burnt umber, warm grey 1, cool grey 2, raw sienna, sap green.
Backing board (3mm mdf or similar) larger than A4 size.
Plastic sleeve folder (to hold all your worksheets).

Also suggested - Small table easel or angled drawing board for those with bad backs. Sunhat, sunscreen, fly repellant, fold-up chair, water bottle, comfortable clothes and shoes.

Supplied by Tutor - Any additional gouache colours required. Small ceramic palettes. Tissues, tape, worksheets. Bank pad and graphite hex. Reference materials for studio work. Positive encouragement.
