Australian Landscapes in Oils (Masterclass)    

This Workshopl is for those who have mastered the basics and wish to move on to higher levels. The course will cover tone, temperature, colour mixing, composition, atmosphere, highlights, reflected lights, reflections and other subtleties unique to our Australian Landscape.

The workshop will begin with theory followed by a tonal landscape. Students will receive step by step demonstrations of six to seven paintings including general landscape, river and gum studies.

John has been painting for 30 years and is one of Australia's leading oil painters. He is a multi award winning artist with 21 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows to his credit.

John exhibited in Beijing in 2007 and has in the past held exhibitions in London, Canada, the United States and Japan, Forging his reputation as a highly respected and sought after tutor.

Materials List:

Paint - COOL PRIMARYCOLOURS - Rose Madder, Genuine Cobalt Blue, Lemon Yellow Hue. WARM PRIMARYCOLOURS - Cadmium Scarlet, French Ultramarine Blue, Yellow Ochre. EXTRA COLOURS - BurntSienna, Viridian, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Cadmium Orange, Indian Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Burnt Umber, Indian Red and Titanium White. ALL WINDSORAND NEWTON ARTIST QUALITY
It is difficult if not impossible to achieve clean colour and paint a good picture using student qualify paint. Some contain fillers mixed with poor quality pigment, many are very oily making over- painting almost impossible and are incompatible with the techniques we will be using.

Brushes - A good selection of long flat, square hogs hair brushes, Eternaor Roymac 577 flat, No's 16, 10,8,6. One Rowney Kolinski 101 sable No 3 for fine line work and No 2 or 3 pointed round hogs hair brush.

Other Materials - Distilled Gum Turps and a dipper (for washes and mixing with paint). Odourless Mineral Turps and container for washing brushes. Canvas boards or Textured board, 4 -30cm x 45cm.2- 45cmX60cm. Plus all of your normal painting kit.
