The 4-day course will address every aspect of drawing with graphite including equipment, materials, set-up, subject selection and capture, composition, perspective, depth of field, proportion, fine detail, chiaroscuro, sfumato and how to see, understand and judge these things with artists eyes and create freehand works of any subject in graphite.

Materials list

At least half a dozen sheets of good quality drawing paper or watercolour paper A2 or smaller (supplied layout board is 600mmx 400mm) and pencil sharpener or sharp knife if you prefer.

All other material will be supplied and is yours to take home after the workshop. We will be using Staedtler Mars Lumograph 2B pencils only (professional German drafting pencils). It is exactly the same set-up I use in my studio and will have us all on the same playing field from the start. You are then set to continue after the 4 days is over if you so choose. Additional layout boards, Lumograph pencils, sharpeners, and other material we will be using will be available for sale during the workshop at very reasonable rates.
