Mastering the impressionistic style

This week of teaching will focus on impressionistic landscapes, with rivers and the sea if the need arises. Palette control and colour mixing are paramount in his teaching. Creating a mood and "colour accords" are an essential part of 'en plein air' painting; with warms and cools playing a vital part of the overall impression, created by the artist.

Feel good acrylics - from fundamentals to fantasies
 |
Deirdrie has worked with people with a disability and those affected by psychiatric illness, bringing to them the joy of expressing themselves through art. During the tuition period her students achieved a very high standard of work and learned to love painting and the satisfaction such an activity can bring.

Students are encouraged to explore painting and to have fun with the medium. Painting can bring such pleasure and Deirdrie endeavours to give students a positive experience which will continue long after the course has finished. They will learn the basic principals of colour, light and shade and perspective Armed with these and a new found love of exploring they will be able to continue to paint and more confidently expand their love of art.
