Jambezi Marimba Band

Enjoy the exiting music of this well known marimba band. Jambezi is unique in Australia, featuring funky dance songs originating from across southern Africa and using the Zimbabwean style of bright and buzzing marimba music. The band mixes seven marimbas with drum kit, mbira (thumb piano) , congas, vocals, percussion and brass, thus producing high energy music guaranteed to get audiences up and on their feet.

The band has played at many festivals including the Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland Music Festival and the Brisbane Festival.


Kitemaking Workshop

Rolling workshop 11am to 2pm.

Tony Rice is running this rolling workshop. Kite kits will be available.

Tony is an artist who has gained National acclaim for his imaginative kites. His artworks include the use of traditional Asian kitemaking techniques and materials and, as a member of the Australian Kiteflyers Society, he has been a major influence in this particular technique.

A fly-off for kites constructed during the Workshop will be arranged.

A variety of public space entertainers including:

Charlie Chaplin is a roving performer who surprises with his unexpected and comical movements. He performs in the Queen Street Mall and at other festivals. From 11am Sat. and Sun.

The Phoenix Firetribe Stilt Walkers, who have been entertaining crowds throughout Australia for the last ten years. They create a magical atmosphere with their unique wearable-art style costumes and a diverse range of characters. From 11am Sun.

Soul Dance (Gypsy Troup) - Let the colour and energy of Gypsy Soul bring sparkle to your day.  Fusing the passionate Romani dance traditions of the world into their own unique and dazzling style, the dancers and musicians of Gypsy Soul help to make Kennilworth Celebrates a day out to remember! From 11am Sat. and Sun.

Brett Campbell - Singer/songwriter Brett Campbell is a founding member of such amusingly titled Brisbands as "Don't Feed the Animals" and "Sick Little Puppies" as well as more serious projects such as "The Kemenys". Brett is equally at home playing to 5 year olds as he is to 50 year olds and all in between. Since 2006 Brett has released 2 Children's albums - "BC" and "Purple Cow". From 11am Sat. and Sun.

Also, stay on for Ghost Train Rock Band at the Kenilworth Hotel from 6pm on Saturday.
